In June 2024, an extraordinary journey began as Quantum Clinical Care approached Private Practice Medical Consulting with a vision to acquire a clinic unlike any other. This clinic, once a vital part of the community, faced an uncertain future when its VMO contract with Murrumbidgee Health—managed by Barham Hospital—was lost. The prospect of losing Barham’s only medical centre loomed large.
However, hope was restored as Quantum Clinical Care stepped in to preserve this essential service for the Barham community. On July 1, 2024, Quantum Clinical Care officially took over ownership, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the medical centre. Stephanie Portoglou played a crucial role in assisting the team of directors—Dr Chandrashekhar Harlapur, Dr Tharindu Uyanage, and Dr Suriyaarachchige Nishan Silva—in this pivotal transition. Together, they embarked on their inaugural journey, setting the stage for a promising future.
The culmination of this journey was celebrated on Friday, July 19, 2024, when guests and staff gathered to officially open Quantum Medical Centre Barham. The event was a testament to the dedication and hard work invested in retaining medical services for the Barham community. The new management’s commitment to quality care was evident, and the opening of the facility symbolised a hopeful new era for local healthcare.
The community’s united support, alongside the dedication of the doctors, staff, and local health medical trust, ensured a bright future for the centre. The successful opening was featured in the Koondrook and Barham Bridge local newspaper, "The Bridge," highlighting this significant achievement.
